Broken china? We would be honored to make you something
special using your own china piece. If you live in the Houston area, you can
call and make an appointment to come by our showroom. If you’re from out of
town then package up your china and mail to:

China Baroque
7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 301
Houston, Texas 77024

Remember, we will be cutting it up so don’t waste a lot of
time and money packaging it up. Bubble wrap and a firm box will get it to us
safely, (please no peanutsJ).
Along with your china, please be sure to include your contact information. If
we are forced to write you a letter you will be charged extra (not really) and
it delays you getting your special pieces-not fun! You can also visit our shop online
page for inspiration and design ideas on what can be done. We can literally
use any type, shape, size of china, ceramic, or glass medium. The china
does not have to be flat. If you send us something such as a bowl or a cup, then
your piece will have the curve of that bowl or cup. If we’ve never set something
you request, we are willing to try. What’s the worst that can happen-it’s
already broken? The only characteristic we have had issues with, is when the
piece has metallic embellishments, such as gold or silver. Sterling silver
requires such a hot melting point that 95% of the time metallic designs tend to
melt right off. It’s up to you if you would still like to use your piece that
has metallic designs, just know that it might not come back in the same state
as it left and you still need to complete payment.

We currently offer three metal options for your settings. We
have our .925 sterling silver option which is a high quality valuable
precious metal. Sterling silver is timeless and will last for several
lifetimes. Our second option is silver plated. With silver plate, the design
and quality are the same but you don’t have the precious metal investment,
hence the lower cost. While silver plating has an attractive price, the process
can be hard on china due to a series of chemical washes and can fade or change
the china’s original color. Lastly we have our gold plated option. Its gold
color is attractive to gold lovers without the steep price. Like the silver
plated option, this process is harder on china which results in more rejections
due to cracks or chips. The choice is up to you, but we highly recommended that
you choose sterling silver when doing a custom order so that we can ensure the
highest quality outcome. Please reference our Frequently Asked Questions
for more information on how to care for each metal.

Once we receive your china, we will contact you to discuss the details.
Any notes you can include in your package will be very helpful. Again you can reference
this website to get shape, silver design, and pricing options. When using your
own china, the cost is the same as you see here on this website. It doesn’t
cost anymore for custom, just takes approximately 10-12 weeks.

Now important to note, that it is not
10-12 weeks from the time that you mail your package.
We do all of the
cutting/grinding and design work in our Houston studio. We then send our
prepped ceramics along with our designs to our silver artisans. We have a
production schedule in which we are sending an order out every month to our
artisans and from the time it leaves our headquarters in Houston that month, to
the time it is back in our hands, is 10-12 weeks. Please visit our “Production
Schedule” when estimating the finished date for your project. Also know that we
do our best to stay within this schedule but there’s always a chance of an
early or late completion date. It’s best to plan ahead for special dates.

Once we have finished the initial design, we only need a 50%
deposit for us to move forward. The remaining balance will be due once the
pieces are finished and set. Please know that this is not a perfect process. We
try our very best to take great care in creating your special piece, but
because we are working with china, there’s always a small chance that it reacts
adversely to this process and could break or chip. If it breaks during the
cutting process then we will notify you immediately and usually we have enough
material to try again or can acquire more from you. Now if it breaks during the
silver setting process, then we won’t know until we receive our rejected pieces
for that order. That means that you would have waited the full 10-12 weeks for
your piece and now we have to start over. It doesn’t cost any more money to
start again, just time. In the 15 years that we have been doing this, we only
have a 5% rejection rate. It’s not high but it is a possibility and we don’t
want you to be surprised if it happens to you. We can promise that we will do
whatever it takes to get it right and it will be worth the wait! Please don’t
hesitate to call or email with any additional custom order questions. We look
forward to working with you!
